Who you’re contracting with

References to “we”, “our”, “us” refer to Desymphony EOOD trading as “Desymphony”.
Use of the site
motfailcode.ukis a free informational service. It maps DVSA MOT defect codes to plain-English explanations and severity classifications taken from the DVSA MOT Inspection Manual. The service is provided on an “as-is” basis. You must not rely on it as a substitute for advice from a qualified MOT tester or vehicle technician for your specific vehicle.
We are not affiliated with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the Department for Transport, or any other UK Government department. References to the DVSA MOT Inspection Manual are factual citations under the Open Government Licence v3.0; nothing on this site should be read as endorsement by DVSA or HM Government.
Acceptable use
- You may use this site for personal, non-commercial reference.
- You may not use the site in any way that breaches any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation, or to harm other users.
- You may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any infrastructure connected to the site.
- You may not scrape, mirror, or republish the site’s content at scale without our written permission. The DVSA MOT Inspection Manual content remains subject to the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Liability
We make reasonable efforts to keep the decoder current with the published DVSA MOT Inspection Manual. We do not warrant that the information is complete, accurate, or up to date at any given time (the manual is revised annually, typically in May). To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for loss or damage arising from your reliance on the information presented.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence and for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with these Terms.
